Kruhay! Hulagway NCR Production Team

The Kruhay! Hulagway NCR team is comprised of seasoned actors, rising stars and technical geniuses. We pay tribute to the creativity and hard work that brought to life Zed and her companions.

WENAH NAGALES

Director, Producer, Zed, Tita Cool, Mars, & Female Newscaster

A seasoned actress for theater, film and TV for 15 years. Wenah also a voice-acted for film, teleseryes, Tagalized movies, radio jingles and commercials. She trained as a member of Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Tanghalang Pilipino Actors  Company. She performed in “Ang Huling El Bimbo the Musical,”and appeared in the films, “Honor thy Father” and “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo.” She is a co-founder of Kolab Company, a group of independent artists creating original machination performances. Their work, ”Monoblocked 5: Monodramas in HD,” is part of CCP’s Festival of Plays by Women Readathon 2020.  She currently teaches theater arts in School of Fine Arts in Manila. Aside lfrom leading the  production of the audio educational materials of NCR Kruhay! Hulagway, Wenah directed and even performed the roles of Zed and Tita Cool. Working from home in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan she found the collaboration of the NCR team fun and thrilling. 

CHRISTEL MANALO

Sound Design & Editor

Since she was 17 years old, Christel has been working in sound design, first, as a sound spinner in theatre productions, and then eventually as a student working and getting paid in corporate events. After graduating with a degree in Theatre Arts at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, she began assisting and doing sound design apprenticeships. Notable works as sound designer are “​Ladies Who Launch: Never Again Voices of Martial Law (SET C: “ Shhh”) ,Fringe MNL Festival’s ​“Werk in Progress​,” A&Q’s  ​“A Documentary Theatre Piece on the Big Issue” and Philippine High School for the Arts’ ​“Ang Bruha at ang Santo Papa.”​  Christel is currently a cultural program coordinator in UP Diliman. Kruhay! Hulagway is the first podcast program she edited and sound-designed.

ELIZABETH JIAO NICOLAS 

Momshie

With almost three decades of various production work for special events such as concerts, corporate events and musicals (as music researcher, spinner, talent coordinator, assistant production manager, production manager & stage manager for lapel mics) never in her wildest dreams did Elizabeth think that her wish to become a radio drama voice artist will come true. She had previous stints as a voice talent for radio & TV commercials, AVPs (Audio Visual Presentations) and digital ads. So when the offer of auditioning for a character in a radio drama came about, she had no hesitation. She says that she “finds the simple gesture of making a difference by imparting values, cultural awareness and educating the youth by way of a radio drama a fulfillment of its own.” She played Momshie in the NCR series.

JASPER JOHN JIMENEZ 

Kuya, Kuya Rider & Male Newscaster

Jasper graduated cum laude from the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Major in Guitar Performance ,under the supervision of Prof. Ruben Reyes and Alberto Mesa. He was a former member of the UST Guitar Ensemble and Silangan Chamber Guitar Ensemble that performed in different concert venues. He also went through trainings as a singer, guitarist, dubber and actor. He is part of hit theater musicals like “Ang Huling El Bimbo” and “Himala Isang Musikal.” Currently, he is a guitar instructor at Beacon International School and Manila Symphony Orchestra Academy. Jasper performed all the male characters in the NCR set of Kruhay! Hulagway.

NICOLE AMBA

Ysa / Ate Girl

Nicole, or Nicsie, is a graduating senior high school student at Holy Trinity University in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. She is consistently an honor student and leader in school. She always joins in contests whether in academics or in arts. She loves to participate in school activities, including performing in musical plays, acting, writing scripts, editing recordings, editing videos, singing, dancing and a lot more. She was mentored by Wenah Nagales for her role as Zed’s BFF, Ysa. (It was Wenah’s teacher-friends who recommended her.) At the start she claimed to be very nervous. But she eventually lost her nervousness about the project, knowing that she is doing it for her fellow students.
